SNHU Library Frequently Asked Questions: Accessibility
HTML Readers in Library Databases
Answer
HTML Readers in Library Databases
Some library resources are equipped with HTML text-to-speech readers. When available in a library database, the audio player can be found at the top or beginning of the text of a document or article. Not all library databases or file types are compatible with this reader function. This reader works similarly to the integrated course content reader in Brightspace.
Additionally, SNHU offers the use of the Alternative Media Tool or Sensus Access. This tool can be used to convert text files in a variety of formats to audio files. Users with a documented need can also work with the Accessibility center or a librarian to request alternative files as needed.
