Guides
Step-by-Step
- Look for the search box on the top right that says "Search and discover books."
- Type in a title, author, or keyword. If it is a phrase, you may want to put it in quotes (this is known as phrase searching). If you have multiple keywords, use Boolean searching which connects the keywords using AND or OR. This provides more relevant results.
- For example, if you are researching the Haitian Revolution, try searches like these:
- "Haitian Revolution"
- Haiti AND 1791
- Haiti AND slave rebellion
- Once you get your results, click on any titles that look relevant for your research.
- Click the "Read Book" button to open the entire book and read it within the database.
- If available, you may prefer to scroll down and click the "Download" button next to each chapter and read it as a PDF. Please note that not every book has this option.
