Accessing the Literature Online- ProQuest Database

You can access the Literature Online - ProQuest This link opens in a new window database by following these steps:

  1. Select A-Z Database List on the library homepage under "Quick Links"
  2. Choose "L" from the alphabet
  3. Find "Literature Online - ProQuest" on the list of databases available there.

Using the Literature Online- ProQuest Database

Follow these steps to run a search, access full text resources, and get an auto-generated citation for materials:

Basic Search

  1. Type your keywords into the Literature Online search box.
  2. From your search results, click on the title to see information about the resource and the full text.
  3. The top right of the page, to the right of the title, you will see options to download, "Cite", print and more.

Advanced Search 

To help make your search keywords provide more relevant results try using the Advanced Search option under the Literature Online search box. Put quotation marks around any important phrases or specific terms. Also, consider using Boolean searching, which connects the keywords using AND or OR.

For example, if you are researching Jane Austen you could try searches like these:

  • "Jane Austen" 
  • "Jane Austen" AND Victorian Novels
  • "Jane Austen" AND Victorian Novels AND (Pride and Prejudice OR Mansfield Park)

To further limit your results, look to the right side of the results page in the Results box. There are options to narrow results to peer-reviewed, select a specific date range, choose source type, or even narrow further by subject.
