What do I need to know about using eBooks from O'Reilly in the LMS?

O'Reilly includes subscribed content with unlimited user access.

Recommendation:  Submit a Check Library License Type form to check if we can buy the same title through ProQuest as an owned, unlimited license. We don't recommend using eBooks from O'Reilly in the LMS at this time.

 High Risk   Subscribed license which O'Reilly or the publisher can pull the eBook at any time. Unlimited users but ebook can be pulled. Does not currently have a workable accessibility protocol.

 No Risk   If an owned unlimited license is purchased through another vendor (EBSCO or ProQuest), there is no risk to using the title. The content is then owned, and will not be removed. Some but not all Safari titles are available through other vendors.

Shapiro Library acquires material using a variety of licenses and access models. Some of these models are better suited to long term use as learning resources in the LMS. Before you use material from this database in the LMS, please consider the license, access model, and recommendation above.
